Petitioning to graduate is a necessary step that you need to take before you can graduate. Before completing this form, please meet with your designated academic department at least one semester in advance to determine if you are eligible for graduation. A graduation fee is due at the time of the application. Both the Petition and the Graduation Fee are valid for one academic year. If graduation requirements are not met within one academic year, the student must submit another Petition for Graduation and another Graduation Fee.

You can pick this form up from the One Stop Center (C304) which is located in the A. Alfred Taubman Student Service Center or download the PDF file below. If you use the form below you can fax it to our office at 248.204.2228. You can also email this form to us at enrollmentservices@ltu.edu. We do need a signature on the form so you will have to fill it out and then scan it into your computer before emailing it in to our office.

 Once this form is submitted to the Office of the Registrar, a preliminary audit of your student file will be completed by your academic department.

After you petition you will start to receive emails from LTU regarding deadlines and other information pertaining to your graduation.

If you are attending Commencement: In March and early April, you will also receive correspondence that will provide you with details regarding Graduation and Commencement. 

Eligibility to attend Commencement:
Fall (December) graduates: Attend May commencement in the new year
Spring (May) graduates: Attend commencement in the same year
Summer (August) graduates: Attend commencement in the same year.

August graduates are required to have the following to attend Commencement:
Undergraduates: 15 credits or less
Graduates: 9 credit hours or less
